More details
Jane Brook Catchment Group (JBCG) is a volunteer group of passionate individuals who are inspired to prevent pollution and further degradation of Jane Brook and its tributaries, improve ecological linkages, improve water quality, encourage the retention and replanting of riparian vegetation, control invasive weeds and conserve biodiversity.
The catchment spans over 137 km² throughout Mundaring, Stoneville, Parkerville, Mahogany Creek, Hovea, Sawyers Valley, Mount Helena, Stratton, Swan View, Jane Brook and Middle Swan.
The JBCG formed in 1997 as an evolution of the “Bugle Tree Creek – Jane Brook Protection Society” which was started in 1989. The group is involved in several revegetation and biodiversity protection projects and has been very successful in receiving grant funding and awards. The JBCG supports Friends Groups and private landowners who are engaged in bushcare work and revegetation, sponsors landcare grant applications and provides and participates in community education and networking opportunities and events in the region. JBCG has connections with 23 active Friends Groups which work in the catchment.

Location
Jane Brook is a seasonally flowing waterway, it drains the Darling Scarp before flowing through the coastal plain and into the Swan River upstream of Middle Swan Bridge. Strelley Brook, a small tributary of Jane Brook, flows through the largely cleared coastal plain portion of the catchment and into Jane Brook just upstream of its confluence with the Swan River.
Joining a Friends Group
A Friends Group is a volunteer community group that works together with a specific local council to preserve, protect and manage their local natural area.
Friends Group members are like-minded volunteers who love their local environment and want to be part of conserving and protecting it. Friends Groups vary in size and are all registered with local councils.
